If Dave wasn’t working at Coastline Advice, what would she be doing instead?
If I wasn’t working as a financial planner, I’d likely be doing something outdoors and active — perhaps coaching junior sport or working in a role that still centres around helping people improve and reach their goals. I’ve always been drawn to roles where you can make a positive difference in people’s lives.
What’s something you’re genuinely excited about right now (work or life)?
Right now, I’m really enjoying watching my kids grow and develop their passion for football. On the work side, I’m excited about continuing to help clients navigate an increasingly complex financial world and seeing the long-term benefits of good advice play out over time.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received (financial or otherwise)?
Focus on what you can control and stay consistent. Whether it’s finances, health, or family life, small, disciplined actions taken over time tend to deliver the best results.
If you could instantly master one skill tomorrow, what would it be — and why?
I’d choose to master a new language. Being able to communicate across cultures would open up more opportunities, both personally and professionally, and help build stronger connections with a wider range of people.
What does a perfect day off look like for you?
A perfect day off would start with an early surf, followed by some time at the gym, and then spending the rest of the day with my family — ideally outdoors, keeping things simple and active.
What’s a small habit or routine that helps keep you grounded or sane during the week?
Keeping up a regular fitness routine makes a big difference for me. Whether it’s a gym session or getting in the ocean, it helps clear my head and keeps me focused.
What values guide the way you show up at work and in life?
Integrity, consistency, and genuinely caring about people. I believe in doing what’s right, being reliable, and building trust over time — both with clients and in my personal life.
What is something you have on your desk that may surprise others?
Probably something tied to the outdoors — whether it’s a photo from a recent surf or snowboard trip or something that reminds me to keep balance between work and life.
